"Sinner Get Ready" is not an album made by a believer. In 2016, Kristin Hayter presents a thesis entitled BURN EVERYTHING TRUST NO ONE KILL YOURSELF, made of 13 songs based on a manuscript of 10 000 pages recounting the history of misoginy through music. 10 000 pages was Kristin Hayter's weight in paper when she was struggling with anorexia. When Hayter chose to compose her music under the name Lingua Ignota (unknown language), she created an alter ego able to exorcise her anger. Kristin Hayter is a survivor. She brushed past death many times, because of harassment at school, because of sexual assaults, psychological violences, police violence, and judicial violence.

Her body is marked, and with Lingua Ignota, she turns it into a vessel transmitting words we could not hear otherwise. By using catholic iconography, Hayter transforms God into a mirror of human's morality. Her parents didn't knew it at the time, but by raising her in christian traditions, they were giving her the weapons necessary to her revenge. French speakers will notice the pun : C'est par la connaissance qu'on combat le mâle. More than ever, Lingua Ignota embodies the holy messenger bringing down to Earth her sacred words and her Judgment. The religious metaphor is her way to bring back to life the muffled speech of victims. Armed with fire and thunder, She is unstoppable.

Her voice cannot cease from wringing, which makes us able to hear the scars crisscrossing her mind. We need to cope. We need to hear Her. "Sinner Get Ready" is a musical translation of systemic violences directed towards women. And from that violence, Ignota builds an aura of power that looks like a subverted horror film. She holds the knife. In "I Who Bend the Tall Grasses", Ignota questions justice. If God's light is shining on everyone, if He observes with omniscience the victim as much as the guilty man, why isn't he condemned ?

This is where the tour de force goes on. Lingua Ignota does not only appeal to God, she does not pray, she commands Him. And despite all of her rage, she abandons her industrial and metal sonorities to focus on pinao. Ignota wraps herself in a graceful shattered dress so we can see her infinite sensibility. In "Repent Now Confess Now", she recalls her need of a surgical intervention due to the physical violences inflicted by her ex Alexis Marshall. In a open letter, Lingua Ignota spoke about this relationship. And her words won't ever stop from resonating in her nave. Sinner Get Ready.
